How to Get a Library Card

Library cards are free!

You may become a registered borrower if you are a resident of Fayette, or rural Fayette County, or a cardholder from another open access participating library. There is no age limit on obtaining a library card. Please visit the circulation desk at the library, or sign up online for a library card! *Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian signature to register*

Checking Out

You must use your own card when checking out materials.  If you've forgotten your card the librarian can get your number from the computerized patron list.  Most materials check out for two weeks.  Some media materials have different loan periods.  As a service, when you check out, the staff member will remind you of any outstanding fines.

Renewing Materials

You may renew materials once if other borrowers haven't reserved them.  Renewals may be made in person, over the phone, through email, or online through the Card Catalog with your personal account.

Returning Materials

You may return materials at the free-standing drop box, the lobby drop box, or at the check out desk. We ask that if the Library is open, you bring in audio devices and DVDs.

Reserves

If we own a book that is checked out, you may place a reserve so the book will be held for you when it is returned.  We will notify you when it is available and hold the book for two days before placing it back on the shelf or allowing the next patron to check it out.
