Join Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.
The Friends of The Fayette Community Library is a non-profit, grassroots membership group dedicated to promoting Fayette's public library, which is an essential institution of our community. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library and its patrons, The Friends raise funds to be used for activities not ordinarily covered under the Library's operating budget since ongoing Library operations are paid for by city and county tax dollars and are the responsibility of our local governments. The Friends currently have about 50 members.

The Friends are involved in these core activities:

  • The Friends support the Library as it strives to provide outstanding library services to area residents. We promote awareness of the Library in the community and encourage use of Library services in our neighborhoods.
  • The Friends conduct advocacy efforts on behalf of the Library, as well as fund special Library programs and services.
  • The Friends involve the community in their annual fund raising events. The Silent Auction is held in conjunction with Watermelon Days and is our major fund-raiser. We also hold a Chocolate Extravaganza in late November which is an unofficial kick-off for community holiday celebrations.

How to join

You can become a Friend for as little as a $5.00 annual donation. Membership brochures are available in the library now and online in the near future.
