Your Library Card
Who can get a library card, how to apply, and how to use your library card.
Library cards are free!
You may become a registered borrower if you are a resident of Fayette, or rural Fayette County, or a cardholder from another open access participating library. Registration is for a 3 year period. Cards will expire at the end of the three year period. There is no age limit on obtaining a library card. Simply ask any librarian at the desk how to get a card.
- Checking Out
You must use your own card when checking out materials. If you've forgotten your card the librarian can get your number from the circulation computerized patron list. Most materials check out for two weeks. Some media materials have different loan periods. As a service, when you check out the staff member will remind you of any outstanding fines.
- Renewing Materials
You may renew materials once if other borrowers haven't reserved them. Renewals may be made at the check out desk or by calling 563-425-3344..
- Returning Materials
You may return materials at the outside return slot, the inside return slot, or at the check out desk. Because the outside return is available 24 hours every day, fines are charged every day of the year whether the library is open or closed.
If we own a book but it is checked out, you may place a reserve so the book will be held for you when it is returned. We will notify you when it is available and hold the book for two days before placing it back on the shelf.
